Dr. Erkan Alci received his Bachelor of Science degree summa cum laude from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida and went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree from Florida State University College of Medicine in Tallahassee, graduating first in his class. He was also inducted to FSU chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and Alpha Omega Alpha.
Dr. Alci completed his orthopedic surgical internship and residency training at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. During his training, he served as chief resident from June 2012 to June 2013. He performed research that was presented at multiple national conferences and received Resident Research Competition Top Presenter award at Central Florida Regional Research Symposium.
Dr. Alci completed advanced fellowship training in spine surgery at University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. During his fellowship, he trained in all aspects of spinal surgery including adult and pediatric spinal deformity, trauma, tumor, and degenerative conditions of cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. He has particular interest in Minimally Invasive Surgical options to resolve neck and back problems including, but not limited to, kyphoplasty, lumbar laminectomy and fusion, microdiscectomy, and post-cervical laminectomy and fusion. Dr. Alci’s main goal is to deliver individualized, conservative, evidence-based care by educating his patients on their injury or condition and working with them to determine the appropriate treatment method using the least invasive surgical procedure possible to achieve less postoperative pain, a shorter hospital stay and faster recovery. Dr. Alci lives in Myrtle Beach with his family.
